PIY -- What you need to know

We've all heard the statistic, "turntables are outselling guitars", that means that there are hundreds of people out there who bought some kick ass gear but have had no more of an audience than the Holly Valance poster on the back of their door.

When you play at PIY, not only will you get feedback from real people but you get to feel what a night club set up is like. Liquouriche talks to TranZfusion's Nigel Tan about the wheres and why fors of PIY.

What if you're shite- 30 minutes can seem like a lifetime if it's not coming together.

Look, we don't expect you to have a degree in Mixology from Stanton U. A good feel for beat mixing will be an advantage but if things do get out of hand we have a few very experienced DJs who can jump in and assist if need be.

What has the feedback been like so far-

Pretty bloody good, in fact it looks like we will be extending the hours already! So if you want to get in, be quick as there are a limited number of spaces.

Are you expecting a wide range of genres-

We hope so. That's why we have created a dead easy registration page on TranZfusion. Once we have your details and chosen genre, we can organise the night so that the transition is as smooth as possible.

What do you have to do to register-

Just go to www.tranzfusion.net/PIY list your name and contact details, genre and 5 examples of what you might play, too easy. Then I'll let you know your set time closer to the date.

Is there a cut off date-

Registrations will be received up until Friday 28th February, 9pm.

What happens after you have registered-

We'll get back to you via email on Saturday 1 March with your set time and it's vital that everyone replies to confirm, otherwise we'll have to give it to someone else.

What do the DJs get out of it-

What don't they get out of it- Exposure, respect, a warm inner glow and tons of Mooks giveaways.

What can they expect from the venue-

bourgie is an awesome new bar on Lt Lonsdale St. It's set up perfectly with a good sized dance floor that won't look too bad if you inadvertently empty it.

What is TranZfusion hoping to achieve with PIY-

TranZfusion has never been about furthering the whole exclusivity thing of the dance music scene. With PIY we hope to create a fun, relaxed atmosphere and maybe even discover some future talent along the way.

PIY starts up this Sunday 2 March and will run once a month.

Entry: FREE

Registration closes: Friday 28th February, 9pm.

Time: 3pm-9pm

Venue: bourgie 397 Lt Lonsdale St, Melbourne
