Why We Love Pyramid Festival

Although there is clearly nothing even slightly Egyptian about Philip Island over NYE, the 15,000 or so people who cross the bridge from December 28 to January 2 couldn't give a hoot.

Because this year they'll be too busy wigging out to the likes of The Black Keys, Morcheeba, Fat Freddy's Drop, Digitalism, Midnight Juggernauts and The Birds of Tokyo to really think about why you would name a festival after an ancient tomb.

Now in its 5th year, Pyramid has sold out every time, and is starting to do so in the same lightning-quick timeframe as traditional hot-cake affairs, such as Falls and Homebake.
In fact, 'experts' have predicted that the period when there are actually Pyramid passes available for purchase is likely to be down to a mere nanosecond by next year.
Ask anyone who has ever been or played there and you'll hear that the nightmare bridge bottleneck is worth the stress.
And if you haven't been successful scoring tickets again this year, next time maybe don't wait until it's sunny to picture yourself sinking a beer on the island.
