Recreational Drug Use Is Harmless, Says Leading UK Foundation

Ecstasy testing kits should be made available in nightclubs according to a new report published by the Foreign Policy Centre (FPO), a hugely influential UK organisation.

The controversial paper also suggests that the "vast majority" of recreational drug users "are able to use drugs, even the so called hard drugs, without long term damage," the Observer reported this week.

Furthermore, authorities are spending too much attention on such people, "whose habits are generally manageable and fit within a lifestyle of clubbing and friendship networks, which usually prevent over-indulgence," the FPO claim.

The Foreign Policy Centre is a British-based "think tank" packed with establishment figures even name-checking Jack Straw on their website. (Straw is a UK Government minister until recently in charge of Britain's zero tolerance approach).

Their dramatic attack on prohibition came just two weeks after a senior British policeman called for all drugs to be legalised.

"It is very clear that alcohol and nicotine are arguably much more dangerous to individuals," Richard Brunstrom, Chief Constable with North Wales Constabulary told Channel 4 news.

"If you're going to be a drug addict surely it's better to have a controlled drug of known purity with proper dosage advice as I get on a bottle of aspirin rather than buying something unknown from a stranger on a street corner and paying money to criminals for the privilege. This is not sensible."
