The Chemical Brothers next single will be a double A sided release including their recent Richard Ashcroft collaboration The Test, the band's label Virgin announced this week.

"I've always had a keen interest in the Chemical Brothers, purely because I think they're coming from the same cultural kind of backdrop," The Verve singer told Skrufff's Jonty Adderley.

"They've gone on a different track though I think we're all trying to reach the same place, where the music can physically and mentally move people."

The song is the standout track on the Chemicals new album Come With Us and marks a return to form for the Drugs Don't Work singer. It's also only his second ever collaboration (the first being a track with DJ Shadow's U..N.K.L.E. project.

"The track's not only about passing the test of your 20s and 30s, or passing the drug culture test, or whatever the test is, it was also about passing the Chemical Brothers' test," he said.

"I was singing to the Chemical Brothers through the studio glass screen; "Did I pass the acid test-"

Speaking to Skrufff before Christmas, Tom Rowlands was equally enthused about working with Richard.

"One of the most exciting times of being in the studio was hearing our music being played and him interpreting it and getting across his emotion. I always thought the Verve were an amazing band."

The Test is released on April 22nd as a double A sided release alongside Come With Us (the track). The Chemical Brothers are also set to collaborate on a track for Richard Ashcroft currently in production next album with other pencilled -in collaborators set to include Talvin Singh (full Richard Ashcroft interview next week).
