'Destination:Australia' - Meat Katie

Mark Pember aka Meat Katie has long been a fixture on the global Breakbeat scene as both a DJ and producer. In the last few years his unique trademark brand of Breakbeat fused with tech-funk that takes influence from tech & tribal house, techno & electro, has really kicked off, with both house and breaks djs sighting him as one of the most consistent players out there. His genre defying sound is also reflected in his DJ sets, which have seen him supporting the likes of The Chemical Brothers, Asian Dub Foundation, Layo & Bushwacka!, Basement Jaxx, Death in Vegas, Ken Ishii & The Dubpistols, to name but a few. He has toured Australia with The Boutique, Gatecrasher, Two Tribes, has done a number of U.S. & Canadian tours and played everywhere from Argentina to Hungary to merry ol' Scotland.

On the recording front Mark is signed to Kingsize Records and is currently working on his new (3rd) artist album. On top of this he has embarked on a collaborative 12" series for the Kingsize label with guests so far including Elite Force and Lee Coombs with both releases gaining solid Radio 1 airplay from Mr. Pete Tong.

Mark has also continued to complete collaborative releases for a number of other quality labels including TCR ("JuJu" with Elite Force) and Bedrock ("I Feel it" with Dark Globe) and if that's not enough, the self confessed workaholic runs his own label Whole 9 Yards which boasts an impressive roster of such talent as Dylan Rhymes, Sons of Slough, Elite Force, Rhythm Division, Dark Globe along with past & future contributions from the likes of Rennie Pilgrem, Boy George, DJ Hyper, Koma + Bones, Blim, Phil Kieran, Mashup and Cass + Slide. This year see's the label celebrate it's 5th anniversary.

Mark's long history in music includes time spent recording for Wall of Sound and R+S Records and during his time he has remixed Arthur Baker, U.N.K.L.E, Boy George, Stephane K, Pep Deluxe, & Beber + Tamra alongside a whole host of other stars of the dance music scene.

For the next instalment of the Destination series, Meat Katie is set to pick-up where things left off after the bumpin' house mix from the H-Foundation lads, which was one of the outstanding mix compilations of last year. Once again the series will provide another international artist the opportunity to provide a quality selection of music that the discerning listener and clubbers alike will have come to expect from a DJ that has graced the decks of Australian clubs on numerous occasions.
