"They single you out if you're flying business class wearing jeans and T-shirt, rather than a smart suit like the rest," Hyper (real name Guy Hatfield) told Skrufff.
"They just don't take you seriously, and I do tend to be dragged out more often than not," he admitted.
However, the 26 year old DJ revealed that his worst problems with overzealous airport officials have happened in America and have had nothing to do with dress sense or occupation.
"They're not really worried about you being a DJ, what they are really worried about is whether you're American or not, and if you're not, they give you hell," he complained.
"I remember going to the States for a big six weeks tour after 9/11, when my flights had been booked months in advance, yet every day I had to go through checks with the excuse of having being 'randomly selected'. How could I have been 'randomly selected' 14 times in 14 days I wondered- I must have been the unluckiest person in the world."
DJ Hyper's new mix CD Wired is out now on Kilowatt Records.
